2022 Ford Maverick

The 2022 Ford Maverick is available in three trims: XL, XLT, and Lariat. They all feature a crew cab body style and a 4-foot-6-inch bed. This bed has a low 30-inch lift-in height, so you can easily load and unload cargo, as well as two 110-volt outlets and two spots prewired for 12-volt power. On the Lariat trim, you can opt for the First Edition package, which adds a black-painted roof and side mirrors, a moonroof, and decals.

Under the hood of the 2022 Maverick, you'll find one of two engines. The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine produces 191 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque and has a hybrid powertrain. It uses a continuously variable automatic transmission and comes paired with front-wheel drive. The optional 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost engine produces 250 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. It also comes standard with front-wheel drive, but if you want the optional all-wheel drive, this is the engine for you. It's also mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The fuel economy for the 2022 Ford Maverick is stellar, especially when compared to other vehicles in its class. These numbers would be ones you'd expect in an SUV and not a pickup truck. Official EPA estimates for the hybrid powertrain haven't been released yet, but Ford expects to return 40 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway with this option. With the turbocharged engine and front-wheel drive, expect to get around 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway, while all-wheel drive drops the numbers slightly to 23 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. Also, when fully equipped, the Maverick can tow up to 2,000 pounds and haul up to 1,500 pounds.

This four-door pickup truck has enough room to seat five people comfortably. The front seats provide generous legroom and headroom, even for those taller travelers. The rear seats are also roomy enough for two adults to fit, and kids will have plenty of space. Outward visibility is great no matter where you're seated. Cloth upholstery is standard, but you can add heated and power-adjustable ones, as well as a heated steering wheel. For technology, the Maverick comes standard with an 8-inch touch-screen display, two USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Add-on features include HD and satellite radio, extra USB ports, and wireless device charging.

The 2022 Ford Maverick comes equipped with about a half dozen safety features, including forward automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and automatic high-beam headlights. You can add several safety upgrades, some of which include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
