Company History & Mission

On April 15, 1947 Frank B. McRee opened the doors to his dealership, McRee Motor Sales, in Dickinson, Texas.  He had a strong belief that, “If you always treat everyone like you want to be treated, you will always be successful.”  He used this belief as the backbone for his dealership.
Mr. McRee surrounded himself with employees that held his same beliefs regarding customer service, which is to take a genuine interest in all customers.  Shortly after the dealership opened, William “Bill” Dale joined his father-in-law full-time in the family business.  The leadership and example these men provided their employees earned McRee Ford a reputation as an ethical company with high standards for customer satisfaction.  The dealership became known as the “Little Warm Hearted Ford Dealer.”
As the business grew, so did family involvement in the company.  In 1970, Mitchell Dale joined his father and grandfather at the dealership.  Ever since he had been a young boy, his dream was to work in the family business.  When his grandfather would introduce him, he would always say, “I’m raising this boy to be a Ford dealer.”  In June 1972, the Company changed its’ name to McRee Ford.
In order to serve more of Galveston County, the family felt a need to relocate the dealership from the original location in downtown Dickinson to the newly expanded freeway.  In April 1976, McRee Ford opened the doors at its present location,
2800 Gulf Freeway.  Although the building was bigger, and the inventory was larger, the commitment to customer satisfaction remained the same.
Following Mr. McRee’s death in 1983,  Bill Dale became President of McRee Ford.  His son Mitchell took his place as Vice-President and General Manager.  In 1998, Michael Dale, joined his father and brother in the family business.  Today, the fourth generation has joined the dealership in various capacities.  Molly Dale Crow, Mitchell’s daughter, is a Vice-President and Operations Manager of McRee Ford and Senior Manager of Bay Area Auto and Truck Rental. Carter Dale, Mitchell’s son, is a Vice-President and Fixed Operations Director.  Dain Crow, Mitchell’s son-in-law, joined the family in 2000 and is Vice-President and General Sales Manager.
In October 1998, Dale Holdings was formed as the parent company of McRee Ford,  Bay Area Auto and Truck Rental, and Bay Area Financial Services.  In December 1998, Dale Holdings purchased Chuck Miller Ford in Houston, Texas.  The dealership was re-named Bay Area Ford and operated on the same principles as McRee.  In November 2006, Bay Area Ford was consolidated into the McRee dealership in Dickinson.  Many of the employees from the Bay Area location joined the McRee Family at that time.
In 2001, the Company obtained a Subaru franchise, McRee Subaru.  Then in 2005, McRee Subaru opened a stand-alone facility at 3002 Gulf Freeway in Dickinson.  In December 2008, the Subaru dealership was converted to a Quick Lane Tire and Auto Center that is now open.  The Quick Lane Tire and Auto Center at McRee Ford has improved our ability to serve our customers.
McRee Ford has been family owned and operated since 1947, making them one of the oldest family owned dealerships in the nation.  Since opening, McRee has earned a reputation for their attention to employee and customer satisfaction, both in the sales and service departments. McRee Ford was recognized in the Houston Chronicle 2011 Houston’s Top Workplaces and the Automotive News Best Dealerships to Work For in 2012.  Ford Motor Company has awarded the President’s Award for customer satisfaction to the dealership twenty-four times, most recently in 2015 – the nineteenth consecutive year.  McRee Ford, Bay Area Auto and Truck Rental, and Bay Area Financial Services strive to provide the highest level of customer satisfaction to all our customers.
In 2012, we mourned the passing of Bill Dale.  The Company looks forward to seeing what the future holds.  The fifth generation of family in Carson and Cooper Crow, and Natalie Dale are a regular sight in the dealership and at Company sponsored community functions.  They truly represent what we are all about…family.
It is the hope of the entire Family that all our employees and customers will proudly say, “McRee Ford…That’s My Dealer!”
